WordSpring

Our annual weekend festival of professional development workshops, readings, the NB Writing Competition Literary Soirée, and the New Brunswick Book Awards live ceremony. It is held in late spring in one of the three major cities of New Brunswick, attracting participants from the Maritimes and beyond.

WordsFall

Our outreach program of workshops and readings has grown from a few workshops to a full weekend conference that acts as a cozier and more laid back version of WordSpring and moves through smaller NB communities, developing connections with the places from which we grow and derive inspiration.

Writers in the Schools Program (WiSP)

The Writers in the Schools Program (WiSP) brings writers into the classroom to encourage reading and literacy. We manage WiSP in partnership with the New Brunswick Department of Education, which fully funds the program.

NB Book Awards

Each spring, the WFNB hosts the New Brunswick Book Awards. It is a privilege to honour NB authors, and celebrate our homegrown talent.

NB Writing Competition

Awards several thousand dollars in cash prizes. It is open to all New Brunswickers as well as WFNB members everywhere.

We also conceived and produced Breaking the Word Barrier, a book created in collaboration with Laubach Literacy NB. It tells personal stories of struggles with literacy, as revealed through interviews of adult literacy students by WFNB members.
