WFNB WordsFall, October 27-29, 2023, Alma, NB

The view overlooking Alma in October

Alma is a picturesque fishing village on the Bay of Fundy, nestled at the entrance to Fundy National Park. It’s one of those quaint seaside communities that burgeon with tourists all summer. When folk disperse in the fall, it settles into quiet autumn beauty, with the snap of winter in the air. The Friends of Fundy has partnered with us to offer WordsFall for the next three years in the beautiful Fundy region of our province, beginning with Alma.

Can't commit to the whole weekend? You can register for a Saturday Day Pass, or if you just want to take in a particular workshop, you can register for it separately.

    Accommodations

The Parkland Village Inn is now full. If you have not yet reserved a room there, you will have to find other accommodations.

The Parkland Village Inn normally closes for the season at this time of year, but they have agreed to host us. (Thank you, Parkland!) They have 15 rooms and 22 beds, so first come, first served. Accommodations come with breakfast. They will offer their rooms at a cost of $110 or $120 per night (subsidized), based on ocean view or street view. Contact Joanna Casey, Manager, Parkland Village Inn, Alma, NB, (506) 887-2313.

    Workshops

The Parkland has opened its meeting space to us, and the Friends of Fundy Gallery across the street will be open to us as well.

WordsFall

WordsFall is our annual autumn meeting that takes place in New Brunswick communities outside the major centres of Saint John, Moncton and Fredericton.

WordsFall, the bookend to WordSpring, includes professional development workshops, book launches and open mic readings. It gives members a chance to gather as a community, hone their craft and share stories before the onset of winter.

Sometimes, in lieu of a WordsFall event, we hold single workshop sessions during the autumn season or other activities, such as our popular weekend retreat at Villa Madonna Retreat Centre in Rothesay.
