Seminar and Workshop
With workshop leader, Charlene Carr
Have you had a story in your heart for years but there never seems to be enough time to get it on the page? There is! Join Charlene Carr to learn the tips, tricks, and mindset shifts that helped her publish eleven novels in a little over a decade and be working on a twelfth (with a new baby at home). We'll focus on the beauty of story discovery and outlining (even if you're a firm pantser, an outline is worth trying at least once!), the magic of giving into awful first drafts, and how embracing them can get you to the wonder of triaged revisions! Charlene will also provide time at the end to answer your questions on all things next steps, such as how to make sure your novel is ready to enter the world, and the important next steps of taking either a self-publishing or traditional publishing route. So come with those questions ready!
About Charlene:
Charlene studied literature at university, attaining both a BA and MA in English, including a study program at Oxford. She has independently published nine novels and her first agented novel, Hold My Girl (which she mostly wrote during her first baby's very short naps!), sold to HarperCollins Canada, Sourcebooks Landmark (US), Welbeck Publishing (UK), Alma Littera (Lithuania). It is also in the works to become a limited series. Charlene received grants from Arts Nova Scotia and Canada Council for the Arts to write and revise her most recent novel, We Rip The World Apart, and she is busy revising her next novel, while also raising two young daughters with her husband in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
