Biography
Originally from Newfoundland, Maria Bourgeois is a multi-disciplinary inter-disciplinary artist with a strong background in theatre (performance, direction, and playwriting), writing and music, and sometimes uses other mediums. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in English and Philosophy and also holds a Fine Arts degree in Theatre with a major in Acting. Her artistic projects have included working with established arts organizations such as theatre companies as well as many community groups in Atlantic Canada and beyond. Since moving to New Brunswick, she has written and performed one-woman plays largely inspired by real New Brunswick characters often in partnership with the Provincial Archives and UNB Art Centre. Since 2016 she has changed her focus to writing fiction and creating music.
