Biography
As a communications professional, writer and columnist, Brian has enjoyed a successful career that has spanned more than 35 years. He has worked in a number of senior communications and public affairs roles for a variety of organizations in both the private and public sectors.

From 2005 to 2017, he wrote Hump Day, a general interest weekly column for the Moncton Times & Transcript. From 2010-2013, he also wrote a social media column called Social Media Matters for the newspaper. Throughout his career, he has written nearly 1,000 individual newspaper columns on subjects ranging from general interest, humour, social media, entertainment and restaurant reviews.

He is a member of the Canadian Freelance Guild (CFG), National Society of Newspaper Columnists, Canadian Association of Journalists, Writers’ Federation of New Brunswick, Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton and Conseil économique du Nouveau-Brunswick.

A dedicated community volunteer, he is a charter member of the Greater Moncton Sunrise Rotary Club (since 2012) and served as president from 2019-2022, in 2023, and is currently serving again in 2026-2027. In 2023, he was named a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotary International. He was a member of the Hospice Southeast New Brunswick (SENB) board of directors from 2018 to 2023 and was a member of the cabinet for Hospice SENB’s $6-million Celebration campaign toward building the area’s first residential hospice (Maison Albert House, Pleasant Street, Moncton). From 2013-2017, he served on the board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton. From 2006-2011, he served on the board of directors and was active on several committees for the Greater Moncton SPCA. He was a member of the District Education Council for New Brunswick’s School District 2 from 2010-2012 and served on the board of the Moncton Regional Learning Council from 2012-2016. From 2012-2017, he sat on the board of Food Depot Alimentaire, serving as Secretary from 2015-2017. In past years, he has also been active with the Fredericton Junior Chamber/Jaycees – where he was a two-time Member of the Year, the Chimo Help Centre and Moncton Kinsmen Club.

Fluently bilingual, he is a graduate of the University of King’s College with an honours degree in journalism and is an active member of the university’s alumni association. In 2013, he was awarded the Order of the Ancient Commoner from King’s in recognition of his “selfless dedication to the University.”

In 2022, he was awarded the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal by the Province of New Brunswick in recognition of his community service.

Today, he is president of his own communications consulting agency, Bricor Communications, and works for a number of major clients in the areas of strategic communications, government and media relations, writing, editing, translation and social media.

He is also the author of the bestselling book series Acadian Recipes and More, as well as Forgotten Recipes.
