Biography
Sharon loves to write and she loves history. It made sense that her first books combined the two passions. A Peak around the Corner, Burtt's Corner – the Early Years is the history of the rural community where she grew up. The second book, From the Shoebox, is the photo collection from the 200 photos gathered during research for the earlier book. Her book "Through the Eyes of Mary" published by NB Publisher Chocolate River is a condensed 32 year diary of Mary Morehouse, longtime resident of Burtt's Corner. This primary source diary introduces electricity, running water in homes, and other events of daily living from 1920 to 1952. A great resource for those wanting to know what it was like during the depression and the war years in rural NB.

A member of the Professional Writers Association of Canada (now Canadian Freelance Guild) since 2004, Bird has published more than 40 newspaper and magazine articles. One piece gained international attention from the North American Genealogical Society and resulted in a representative travelling to New Brunswick for further discussion.

In 2002, Sharon won the Joyce Barkhouse Writing for Children Award for her unpublished children’s novel. Not surprisingly, she authored a children’s book for ages 4-8 years. My Canada was released in November 2014 by Flying Frog Publishing from Maryland, USA, and went to a second printing in spring 2015.
A second novel in progress for adults "Gulliver's Gulch" won Honourable Mention in the David Adams Richards category of the WFNB writing contest in 2021.
