Biography
Roger Moore (BA [Bristol], MA, PhD [Toronto], 3M National Teaching Fellow) is an award-winning teacher, researcher, poet and short-story writer. Born in Swansea, the same town as Dylan Thomas, he emigrated from Wales to Canada in 1966. He has lived in Fredericton, New Brunswick, since 1971, and in Island View (Valley View Estates on the outskirts of Fredericton) since 1989. His writing awards include CBC short story finalist (1987 and 2010), WFNB Bailey award (poetry, 1989 & 1993), WFNB Richards award (prose, 2020). He has published 10 books of prose and 35 books and chapbooks of poetry. Over 150 of his poems and short stories have appeared in 30 Canadian magazines and literary reviews. Roger is a Professor Emeritus (STU), a member of the consejo honorífico of La Perinola (Unversidad de Navarra, Pamplona, Spain) and a corresponding member of IGDA (Institución Gran Duque de Alba, Ávila, Spain). He gas been a member of the LCP (Atlantic Provinces Director 1990-1993) as well as a member of TWUC. He was the first writer in residence at Kingsbrae International Residencies for Artists in June, 2017 and the first returning KIRA Alumnus (May-June, 2021).
