W ordSpring is our main annual writing festival and takes place in May. It offers great writing workshops, a Blue Pencil café, readings by national and local authors, book launches by WFNB members, open mic sessions and more.

WordSpring also features a Saturday night Literary Soirée, where our Writing Competition winners receive their awards and give readings. The soirée includes dinner, music and merriment.

WordSpring 2018 will take place in Quispamsis on May 11–13.

Highlights:

  • First time in New Brunswick: Rousing keynote address by Marjorie Doyle, President of The Writers’ Union of Canada. She has won more awards than most of us have decades and is a fervent advocate for writers’ rights (like getting fair pay for work).
  • Equally inspiring plenary session on being a late bloomer writer, led by Wendy McLeod MacKnight, who should know.
  • Great workshops with award-winning authors such as Kerry Lee Powell (fiction), Roger Moore (poetry and prose), Wendy McLeod MacKnight (children’s literature) Deborah Carr (non-fiction), Colin Thornton (writers’ groups).
  • Plus the usual stellar networking, Blue Pencil Café sessions, open mic readings, book launches, books for sale by authors, huddled conversations over wine…
  • Catering by the Chef’s Table with a Buffet Dinner Menu (at right). Dinner is $35, including tax and gratuities. (This is NOT included in your registration fee.) Paying guests most welcome!

To register: Download the registration form and program schedule from the sidebar to the right. Fill out your registration form and send by snail mail (or scan and email to info@wfnb.ca). Payment by e-transfer, cheque or Paypal  (link at right).
