The All-Canadian Twitter Pitch
Want the chance to have your work considered by Canadian publishers such as Goose Lane Editions, ECW Press Book Thug, Thistledown Press, and Turnstone Press?
The team at Digiwriting.com invites you to participate in #CanLitPit on Wednesday August 10, 2016. Following a similar style to other Twitter pitch events, this version is only open to Canadian writers, publishers and literary agents.
Here’s the scoop and ‘how-to’ from Adam Mawer at Digiwriting:
“As you may know, Twitter pitch events have grown in popularity as they bring writers, publishers, and literary agents together in a simple and cost-efficient manner. Most importantly, for participating writers, they are nearly guaranteed to have a publisher’s eyes on their work! Participating publishers and literary agents will be announced in the lead up to the event and posted in the #CanLitPit section on our website.
“During the #CanLitPit pitch event, Canadian writers with a completed and polished manuscript can pitch their work to publishers and literary agents through a 140-word tweet, along with target age (i.e. #MG = Middle Grade) and genre hashtags (i.e. #M = Mystery). Participating publishers can easily search Twitter through the associated event hashtags to identify the pitches they’re interested in. If a publisher or literary agent clicks the “heart” (favourite) button on a pitch, the writer should then submit their full manuscript following their submission guidelines.
“Participating writers can tweet their pitch(es) up to six (6) times over a twelve (12) hour period (10 a.m. to 10 p.m. EST) on the event date. This limit is in place to avoid spam and to allow participating publishers and literary agents enough time to review all of the pitches.
We will also be hosting a pitch workshop beginning Wednesday August 3rd on our blog where participating writers can assist each other by improving each other’s pitch(es) prior to the event. Once a participant is happy with their pitch(es), we invite them to submit it to a contest on our Facebook page for the opportunity to WIN A FREE PROFESSIONALLY DESIGNED DIGITAL BOOK COVER from our graphics team.”
