Thomas Mengel
My writing activities to date have mainly been within my professional and academic context (see below). However, for years I have been experimenting with various forms of fiction and worked on my writing in workshops at the Axel Anderson Academy of Writing (Germany), the University of New Brunswick (Maritime Writers Workshop), St. Thomas University (Biographical Writing), and most recently at Wesleyan University (Creative Writing Specialization). I am now also more interested in and committed to more actively exploring diverse fictional approaches to writing and publishing; likely my personal and professional interests and experiences to date will fuel my fiction writing also.
Currently, I am a professor of leadership studies at Renaissance College at the University of New Brunswick and an Academic Coach in the Faculty of Business of Athabasca University. I have been teaching and publishing in the field of leadership and project management for more than 30 years. My academic degrees are in theology, adult education (minor in psychology), history, and computer science (minor in education and business administration).
Before joining academia, I have held project management and leadership positions and worked as an entrepreneur and consultant in Europe and North America. My major academic focus is on the significance of motivation, values, and meaning in the context of project management, leadership, social entrepreneurship and leadership education. I am particularly interested in understanding and supporting personal and professional growth as well as leadership development.
