Sharon Bird
Sharon loves to write and she loves history. It made sense that her first books combined the two passions. A Peak around the Corner, Burtt’s Corner – the Early Years is the history of the rural community where she grew up. The second book, From the Shoebox, is the collection of 200 photos gathered during research for the earlier book.
A ten-year member of the Professional Writers Association of Canada, Bird has published more than 40 newspaper and magazine articles. One piece gained international attention from the North American Genealogical Society and resulted in a representative travelling to New Brunswick for further discussion.
In 2002, Sharon won the Joyce Barkhouse Writing for Children Award for her unpublished children’s novel. Not surprisingly, she authored a children’s book for ages 4-8 years. My Canada was released in November 2014 by Flying Frog Publishing from Maryland, USA, and is slated for a second printing in spring 2015.
