Mark Blagrave
Mark Blagrave has been a theatre director, university professor and administrator in New Brunswick and Ontario as well as being a playwright, novelist and writer of short fiction. His plays have been seen in community, university, and professional productions at The Delta Brunswick, The Saint John Trade and Convention Centre, Harbour Station, The Playhouse, and at Mount Allison’s Windsor Theatre and Tweedie Hall. His short fiction has appeared in The Fiddlehead, The Dalhousie Review, The Antigonish Review and The New Quarterly, and his novel Silver Salts was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Prize for first novel (Canada and Caribbean, 2008) as well as the John and Margaret Savage first-novel award at the Atlantic Book Awards. A collection of linked stories, Salt in the Wounds, appeared in 2014. After nearly ten years of teaching English literature and theatre at UNB Saint John, and twenty years teaching English literature, theatre, film, and creative writing at Mount Allison, and seven years as Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Science at Huron University College at Western University, Mark now lives and writes in beautiful St. Andrews-by-the-Sea.
