WFNB’s Financial Future

The year ahead promises to be an exciting and challenging time for the Writers’ Federation. Our Board of Directors has met and appointed an Executive Committee, comprising the President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer: Zev Bagel (Warren Redman), Mary Mesheau, Kathy Mac and Nick Doyle, plus our Executive Director, Cathy Fynn. This committee has been tasked to develop and oversee a program of sustainable funding for the Federation.
We aim to raise sufficient funds to ensure our continued development. In the past, WFNB has barely managed to stay afloat with the help of one part-time—and extremely dedicated–Executive Director, in addition to provincial and arts funding grants. But now, we must either cut back on our programs, or increase our resources.
Our fund-raising efforts will consist of three strands:
- Member donations
- Legacy funding
- Business sponsorship
Members or patrons may wish to make donations from time to time to help support our programs, or they may choose to support us by bequeathing an amount through legacy in their wills.
As well, our committee will be actively seeking sponsorship of businesses or organizations that may wish to sponsor the arts via our federation.
We must take serious action to change the way we finance the Writers’ Federation of New Brunswick, and we welcome the support of members, patrons and businesses.
