Some types of itches you want to avoid, but when Ellen got the itch to write she scratched it vigorously. And once she embraced her creative side, she found happiness in writing. From science fiction to fantasy, children’s literature to the classics and even cultural studies and social political critiques, each novel she read taught her something and brought her on a new and exciting adventure, and she realized the impact literature could have on people.
In pursuit of education, Ellen had adventures in Halifax, Toronto and New York, which opened her eyes to the importance of culture and social justice. Beyond reading and writing, Ellen loves to garden and cook, and she has an interest in youth empowerment, peace advocacy, social justice, and the environment. Now she happily lives in the woods with her husband, whose kindness and amazing sense of humour always keeps her smiling; her three unruffled hens, Zombie, Hank McCoy, and Mrs. Hudson; and her cat, a posh cuddle monster, named Jude, who often insists on sleeping on her laptop at the most inconvenient of times.
